PGY-1 RESIDENCY

Our PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program is located at Vital Care of Meridian in Meridian, Mississippi. This 12-month program is aimed to provide a structured, directed, postgraduate professional practice that is also designed for flexibility, allowing the resident to pursue his/her individual interests and goals. The purpose of Vital Care of Meridian’s residency is to train and facilitate the development of a clinical practitioner who is able to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care in the alternate site pharmacy setting. Residents will gain clinical and managerial expertise through a wide range of interdisciplinary experiences under the guidance of regional and national preceptors.

Numerous opportunities will be made available to work closely with various clinicians. Residents will be expected to contribute to the continuity of patient care through a multidisciplinary approach, and, upon completion of the program, residents will possess the necessary clinical and operational skills to succeed in the home care pharmacy setting.

Each resident will complete a major project and present the results at regional and national professional meetings. Residents will also precept Doctor of Pharmacy candidates from numerous schools of pharmacy and may be asked to present didactic lectures at the respective universities.
